Cranial Work

Cranial Chiropractic WorkCranial work is incorporated into various chiropractic technique protocols, such as SOT, AK, CST (cranio-sacral therapy) and more. Fundamental to all, is the rhythmical relationship between the cranium and sacrum.

Using a very light, soft touch, practitioners evaluate and then release restrictions in the cranial system. This eases tension on the underlying membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. This is often employed alongside sacral/pelvic corrections.

The process of cranial moulding in the infant during labour with, or even without, interventions such as forceps or suction, can be compromising to the soft structures of the skull and membranes. Cranial therapy is particularly beneficial for young children whose cranial bones have not yet completely solidified.
