All you need to know
What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a natural, safe and scientific approach to health and wellbeing. Watch the short clip below to find out more!
Focusing on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, with special emphasis on the spine, Chiropractic is a manual therapy based on adjustments of the spine and other joints and soft-tissue.
It is completely drug-free and includes exercises and health and lifestyle counselling.
How it works
A chiropractic degree involves extensive training in anatomy, physiology and biomechanics, with particular emphasis on the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system
The spine and skull are a protective mechanism designed to shield the brain and spinal cord. If the spinal bones, also known as the vertebrae become restricted, it can create negative communication between the body and brain and can lead to pain.
Spinal restrictions, which we call subluxations, may or may not cause pain but can affect the way in which a body functions. Chiropractic adjustments restore normal motion to the spine, allowing the body to recover.

Live a full life
Health beyond Chiropractic
Diet
The key to healthy eating is balance, variety and moderation. The right balance will make sure your body gets most of what it needs in terms of proteins, fats, carbohydrates and fibre to stay healthy.
Hydration
Water is an essential element responsible for transporting nutrients, oxygen and waste, as well as regulating your body’s temperature. So getting enough – around 2-litres a day – is vital.
Exercise
30-minutes of moderate-to-vigorous activity a day – activity that makes you breathe a little harder than normal – helps you maintain strong muscles and joints, and feel vital and alive.
Pause
Modern life is anything but simple. Taking ten minutes a day to practice mindfulness is a wonderful way to restore calm and order to our overcharged brains and hectic lives.
Sleep
Getting a good night’s rest should be the top of your list if you want to feel refreshed and alert. Experts agree that most adults need between 7–9 hours’ sleep a night.
Alignment
Through your course of Chiropractic care we regularly reassess you both objectively and subjectively. By measuring the changes against the examination results carried out at your initial appointment, we can monitor your improvements throughout your care and ensure we are giving you the best and most appropriate treatment.

Frequently asked questions
Do adjustments hurt?
It is a misguided notion that Chiropractic care is painful. All our Chiropractors take great care when adjusting. We work with you at all times to ensure we are working at a level you are comfortable with whilst still making progress to improve your function.
How long does an adjustment take?
The actual adjustment may only take 5-10 minutes. But remember, it’s not the adjustment that does the healing, your body does that once normal function has been restored. Your body has the ability to heal over the next few hours, days, weeks or even years following your adjustments.
How long do I need to come for?
How long you choose to benefit from our Chiropractic care is always up to you. It really depends on your goals and motivation for care.
How long until I start to feel better?
Everybody is different. Our recommendations to you are based on our training, observations and experience, and success with others with similar problems. Since each visit builds on the one before, we suggest you keep to your given care plan for best results.
What’s the popping sound?
When you are adjusted, depending on the technique used, you may hear a popping sound. The popping sound is simply a release of gas when the joint is moved – like popping your knuckle. It is not your bones cracking!
Chiropractors’ qualifications
All Chiropractors practicing in the UK must be registered with the General Chiropractic Council. To do so, they must have undertaken a minimum of 4-5 years of study at an accredited institution. Chiropractors must also complete 30 hours of Annual Continual Development to remain up-to-date with their skills and knowledge.
Health Insurance
Most private health insurers cover our Chiropractic care, but we recommend you check with your policy with your insurer first. Please note we are not covered by AXA/PPP or Bupa, we have chosen to deregister with them. In all cases, you will be required to pay for your treatment and then make your claim directly with your insurer. Please advise us when making your appointment if you will be claiming on insurance.
